Keeping Britain's Holidays Safe

Keeping Britain's Holidays Safe

2012 was a big year for holidays in the UK. As owners of major British holiday brands our client was expecting bumper bookings with more stay at home holidays, the London Olympics and even better holiday deals. But holiday bookings and delivering the holiday experience only work if the IT systems supporting them are available and reliable.

Aim was contracted to protect Britain’s holidays by delivering for our client their 21st Century Infrastructure Programme which focused on provisioning significantly improved reliability and resilience to the mission critical holiday booking systems (99.99% uptime target) through the creation of a new primary data centre, a new disaster recovery site, and providing enhanced internet services to over 50 holiday site locations throughout the UK.

A difficult and complex programme, the focus was on managing in-house resources with major data centre and telco vendors, and critical path fitting within the normal business cycle. The programme ran for much of 2012 and resulted in a completely successful migration of all key systems on time and to budget with no impact on service.
